a week of firsts

I've been thinking about starting this blog for a long time. One of my New Years Resolutions was to write more often. It's been a creative outlet for me - a way for me to just get the words out. I've been blogging over at bold&love for awhile. I've been wanting to put my thoughts down about life as a Stella & Dot independent stylist but my existing blog just didn't really fit my vision for it.

I was finally spurred to take action when I had a new stylist join my team on February 28th. But she wasn't just a new stylist. She was a new stylist who didn't use Facebook! (If you're reading this Courtney, don't feel weird - I love that you don't have FB) Since a major part of my full-time job is to manage the online community for my university, I find myself logged into FB almost every single day. It is really hard for me to grasp the idea of conducting this business without FB as a tool.

I wanted to come up with a way that no-FB stylists can tap into the community and hear stories about our shared experience. I want to be able to pass on some of the tips and tricks I've picked up along the way. I want to share the joy and fun that I get from this business with my network - and maybe inspire someone to join my team and sign up as a stylist too!

So, here it is. I've finally launched my design and published my first post so I can share with the world (or at least the S&D stylist community) an insider look at my home business. A business I love.

This week also marked Courtney's first show - yay! Here's a shout-out to you, girl - thank you for being awesome. You totally took the bull by the horns and learned everything you could before your first show. It has been so hard for us to coordinate our schedules and connect for a coaching call, but you rocked it anyway! You're going to do amazing things with this business.

As for me, I'm attending my very first burlesque class tonight. One of my contacts from a holiday vendor show owns a Zumba studio and invited me to join her for a girls night at the studio. I'm so pumped! It's going to be a great night. I can't wait to style our guests and show off the new Summer line!

Till next time... stay stylish :)
